Mayor Barton called the meeting to order at 10:00am.

Councillor Shreeve spoke to the upcoming Jazz in Leaskdale events scheduled to take place on February 7, March 7 and April 4 at the Historic Leaskdale Church, including performances from Tom Baker & Friends, Ernie Mee and Amy Peck. Councillor Shreeve informed that performances begin at 7:30pm and that admission is by donation.

Councillor Beach informed that the new electronic sign has now been installed at the Goodwood Community Hall and will serve as a means for advertising opportunities.

Councillor Beach reminded residents to be mindful of drifting snow on the roads.

Regional Councillor Garrod spoke about his recent attendance at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference which took place from January 19-21.  

Regional Councillor Garrod also spoke to the recent Durham Region Transit consultation, which was one of multiple events taking place at Walmart, the Arena and online. Regional Councillor Garrod thanked councillors for their communications to the public regarding these information events.

Mayor Barton spoke to the announcement which took place on Friday, January 24th regarding the Uxbridge Hospital redevelopment and informed that permissions were granted to begin construction. Mayor Barton explained the significance of the hospital to the community and offered his thanks to the medical teams, as well as Jo-anne Marr, the former President and CEO of Oak Valley Health for her vision to keep the Uxbridge hospital open. Mayor Barton expressed his thanks to MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy for his support of the project.

BLAIR TROTTER, AUTOFEST NATIONALS re 2024 summary and plans for 2025

Blair Trotter, along with Bob Clark and Doug Stapleton of Motor City Car Club attended Council to discuss the success of the 2024 Autofest in Uxbridge and to discuss preliminary plans for Autofest 2025. Mr. Trotter explained that the 2024 event consisted of exhibitor participants, vendors and attendees and that, in partnership with Rotary Club, $16,000 was raised donated to the Uxbridge Hospital and Grandview Kids. 

Bob Clarke explained that organizers were overwhelmed with participant applications in 2024 and are looking to extend the 2025 event to two days, those being all day Saturday and Sunday, August 23rd and 24th. Concerns were expressed about other uses of the park on Friday, August 22nd during event set up. 

Doug Stapleton presented Mayor Barton with a plaque to commemorate the Autofest Nationals 2024. 

Council encouraged Autofest Nationals to consider ways to encourage attendees to visit downtown Uxbridge.

TANIA JOY SENIOR, SPRINGTIDE MUSIC FESTIVAL re A partial road closure June 13th and 14th

Tanya Joy Senior attended virtually on behalf of Springtide Music Festival to provide Council with an update on the success of the 2024 Springtide Music Festival and to ask that their for a partial road closure for Saturday, June 14th 2025 be extended to include for Friday, June 13th 2025 to support the set up and teardown of the outdoor stage in the south parking lot of the Second Wedge Brewing Company parking lot. 

Ms. Senior explained that the Springtide Music Festival is entering it's 7th year and noted the benefits this event has on local business, as well as promoting the arts in the community.  Ms. Senior explained that the 2025 festival is scheduled to run from June 12-14, 2025 in Downtown Uxbridge and will include partnerships with venues and local businesses in the area.  Ms. Senior explained that, as was done last year, event organizers plan to send a letter to neighbours in the vicinity of the Second Wedge Brewing Company regarding plans to erect an outdoor stage at that location.

    THAT the Council of the Township of Uxbridge receive the Delegation of Tania Joy Senior, Springtide Music Festival for information;

    AND THAT a partial road closure be extended to the prior to the event Friday an that the hours of the closure be extended to 10:00pm;

    AND THAT this the Springtide Music Festival be declared a Municipally Significant Event; 

    AND THAT event organizers work with staff regarding event requirements.

ERIN BENNETT, WOODNEWTON FARM re Update regarding 2024 events at Woodnewton Farm and request permission to host events in 2025 using the Special Events permit.

Erin Bennett attended virtually to discuss the success of the events which took place at Woodnewton Farm in 2024 and to request Council's approval to host four events on his property in 2025. Mr. Bennett noted that four events were planned for 2024 but only two took place. Mr. Bennett explained that over the past 15 years of hosting events at this property, $20,000 has been raised and donated to JumpStart.  

Mr. Bennett explained the events planned for 2025, including one event in the spring and three events in the fall and requested Council's approval to run these events.
